FAQ

Here are a list of frequently asked questions and the corresponding answers. Should you have any questions or concerns that are not listed here please use the contact section to ask us.

Q: DO I NEED TO BE FIT TO START KRAV MAGA OR SELF DEFENCE CLASSES?

No, you don’t need to be already fit. Classes are designed for people of all fitness levels. Trainers adapt exercises to suit your abilities, help you build strength and stamina over time, and always encourage you to go at your own pace.

Q: AM I TOO OLD TO TRAIN?

Absolutely not. Krav Maga and our Womens Only programmes are suitable for adults of all ages.

Q: WILL I GET HURT?

As with any contact activity, there’s a small risk of bumps or sprains. But classes begin with thorough warm‑ups, emphasise safe practice, and teach respect for training partners. Instructors are first‑aid trained.

Q: HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN DEFEND MYSELF?

From the very first lesson you will learn practical moves—like escapes, strikes, blocks—that are immediately useful. Regular training helps you build reflexes and confidence gradually. There's no fixed timeline, but progression is steadily visible.

Q: ARE THERE BELTS / GRADINGS?

We offer optional rank testing—practitioner, graduate, expert levels— to reflect your training level. These are not mandatory but help track and motivate your learning.

Q: IS TRAINING EXPENSIVE?

Krav Maga training is not expensive generally. Training fees are usually on par with fitness classes at £3.25 an hour. Payment is collected by Direct Debit each month. We do have some block booking options for specialist / beginner courses.

Q: DO I HAVE TO SIGN A CONTRACT?

No. We ask new members to join for a minimum of 12 weeks. Whilst the payment system is a monthly direct debit system, you do have the option to cancel with a months notice and if necessary you can arrange to put membership on hold if you will be unable to train for a long period.
